Scholarships and Opportunities for Women in STEM
New funding to support womens projects - Do you have an idea on how to encourage more women to take part in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) education and careers? The newly announced Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship programme might be able to help. The WISE programme provides funding for activities and projects that help girls and women to explore their interest in STEM. Funding will support outreach projects that target girls and women to:
- foster their interest in entrepreneurship
- develop their innovation and entrepreneurial skills
- build their professional networks.
Chief Executive Women - CEW’s scholarship program, known as CEW Scholars, helps develop women leaders by supporting them at critical junctures in their careers, from their first management roles to top executive positions. The 2016 CEW Scholars program introduces three new scholarships to MIT Sloan’s Leading Change in Complex Organisations program for senior executives. Two scholarships will be awarded to senior women working in a Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) industry, and one to a woman in a senior HR role.
National Innovation & Science Agenda - This initiative will emphasize successful female role models in Australia’s STEM and innovation sectors, prompting more female participation in STEM study and careers

Sam Grover Homeward Bound Crowd funding - Homeward Bound is a state‐of‐the‐art leadership and strategic program for women in science, set against the back drop of Antarctica. Over 10 years, Homeward Bound will build a global collaboration of 1,000 women, and the first expedition leaves next December. 78 remarkable female leaders in science from around the world have recently been selected.
Sam Grover from La Trobe AgriBio Institute one of them. As a soil scientist, Sam's research has already influenced government policy and she aspires to lead structural change in society to ensure that our home, the earth, will not only survive, but thrive. Homeward bound has contributed half the cost of this journey but Sam still has more funds to raise. Checkout her crowd funding page HERE to read more about this project and be apart of the amazing journey. |
#ThatOtherShirt - In January 2015, writer and designer Elly Zupko raised over $33,000 via Kickstarter to fund the creation of a design that would feature over 50 notable women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—fields collectively known as STEM. This repeating design, which we call "STEM: Women Are All Over It," appears on shirts, fabrics, wallpaper, wrapping paper, and posters.
Zupko founded SMLX Good, a non-profit organization, to help ensure the sustainability of the #ThatOTherShirt project and the positive message it promotes. Mentorloop - Mentorloop is a subscriber-based web application designed to make mentoring programs easier to start, run, and participate in. Live chat, Skype and news feeds are all things we’ve come to use in order to communicate more effectively with colleagues, family and friends. So why not for your mentor as well? The Mentorloop platform enables mentors and mentees to spend more time on things that matter in their relationship, rather than the things that don’t.
